Brie believes that lasting change happens when families and neighbors are connected, heard, and trusted to lead the work of shaping their own communities.
As a parent leader, community builder, and Executive Assistant at The People’s Place (TPP), Brie brings more than 23 years of nonprofit experience in family engagement, program management, and administration to strengthen equity and connection for Waterbury families and neighborhoods. She does this work because she knows how much a community gains when its people feel supported and empowered to lead.
Brie’s work has included direct care, residential and program management, and licensing, building the day-to-day systems that support people well. She has championed family engagement in Waterbury and Washington, CT schools, earning a Parent Leadership Award from the City of Waterbury for her work with Children’s Community School. Through this work, she developed a relational, practical approach that informs how she supports TPP’s members and projects. She is now embarking on an organizing project in the Willow Plaza neighborhood, grounded in neighborhood power-building. Brie also serves on several nonprofit boards and on a community committee evaluating the Brass City Promise Zone Initiative.
At TPP, Brie supports the Executive Director in managing the coworking and flexspace operations, member relations, financial systems, and the fiscal sponsorship program. Working alongside TPP’s leadership, staff, and fiscally sponsored projects, she builds the steady operational foundation that lets emerging community work take root and grow.
A Danbury native, Brie first took part in civic life through the NAACP and by volunteering for State Representative Lew Wallace. She is committed to mentoring and uplifting others as she was, and to a more connected, empowered Waterbury. She is also a devoted mother and is active in her children’s education and athletics.
